KUUSAMO |
Kuusamo was a town slightly bigger than Kemijarvi. There I went for a dance performance to the town hall and I met some Asian women (Thai and Chinese) who were married to finns. They had come to the performance as part of broadening their exposure to the Finnish culture.

Kuusamo has a famous ski spot named Ruka. Though we went there for dinner one night it was too late in the year to do any snow activities as he snow had started melting. We spent an evening trekking at Oulanka National Park and that was pretty exciting. The park is on the Russian border and is owned by both countries. The whitewater rapids though beautiful is too dangerous to try any river rafting activities.
